Passper for Word allows you to recover any opening password or remove editing and formatting restrictions from Word 2003-2019 documents with just a few clicks so that you can access or edit the locked Word document. Follow the steps below to unlock a Word document.
Part 1: How to Recover Opening Passwords for Word
Download , install and run Passper for Word on a Windows PC. Then select the 'Recover Passwords' option on the homepage.

Click the 'Add' button to select and import the password protected Word document into the program. Once done, select a method of attack according to your situation.

Note: Here is a detailed explanation of the 4 methods of attack. If you are still not sure which method to choose after reading it, please send an email to passper.support@imyfone.com. We will put forward some targeted suggestions.
1. Dictionary AttackDictionary attack is a popular form of attack in cryptanalysis. It will make use of the provided list of passwords to try all the possibilities to recover the opening password in less time. By using Passper for Word you can import a list of passwords or use the built-in dictionary that contains millions of passwords used by people. Due to this huge database the success rate is relatively higher than that of the other methods of attack.
2. Combination AttackIt allows you to set the length, letters, numbers, and symbols of a password. Then it will randomly combine all the information to find the password. This is the best and fastest method if you remember the components of your password.
For example, if you always set a password of 6-8 characters by using your name (Ava) and some numbers and symbols, you can set the information like this:
Password Length: 6-8 characters
Lowercase Letters: v, a
Uppercase Letters: A
Numbers:
Select All
Symbols: Select All
Now, the program will randomly combine those characters to find your password. Please note that the recovery time will be short if you can offer certain characters.
3. Mask AttackContrary to the Combination Attack, Mask Attack requires you to enter some information not included in the password. But it's still suggested that you should remember some characters or combinations of the characters.
For example, you are sure that there are no symbols in your password. And you always create a password of 6-8 characters with your name (Dacy). Then you can set the information like this:
Password Length: 6-8 characters
Character Types Not Included: Symbols
Characters or
Combinations Included: Dacy (If your name doesn't appear as a whole in the password, write the
characters separately.)
The program will combine other characters (numbers, uppercase letters, lowercase letters) with your name (Dacy) to search for the password.
4. Brute Force AttackThis is a trial-and-error method that can help to recover your password by trying a lot of possibilities randomly without setting up any configuration. Due to this feature, the recovery rate and recovery speed depend on the length and complexity of your password.
After you've selected the method of attack and finished configuring the settings, click 'Recover'.
Be patient and wait for the recovery process to complete. The time to complete it depends on the complexity of the password and the method of attack you chose. The password will be shown on the screen once completed, and you can copy the password to open the locked Word document.
